Phone Scam Targeting Customers
Posted: July 23, 2025Weโve been made aware of a scam where fraudsters are calling customers claiming to be from our Fraud Department. These scammers are using convincing tactics, even referencing our Indianola branch, and asking for sensitive information like:
๐ Debit card number
๐ CVV and PIN
๐ Social Security number
๐ Online banking security questions
๐ A texted code (used to add cards to mobile wallets)
๐ซ Do not provide this information over the phone. Peoples Bank will never ask for your full debit card number, PIN, or a texted verification code.
โ๏ธ If you receive a suspicious call, especially from numbers you donโt recognize or a toll-free number, hang up and call your local branch directly.”
Fraudulent transactions have been reported at Hy-Vee, Five Below, USPS, and McDonaldโs in the Des Moines area.
๐ Please share this post to help protect your friends and family.
We are your bank for good, and your safety is our top priority.
