In 1998, when a large regional bank purchased one of the last remaining community banks in Indianola, local business leaders came together out of concern. They saw an opportunity to break the trend of consolidation and open a new kind of community bank. They hired Kevin Halterman, who was willing to take a risk and build a bank from zero. He partnered with local business professionals who guided the process of filing paperwork, raising capital, and recruiting local talent to build the bank. In November 1998, Peoples Bank opened its doors to the very first customer and three decades later now has multiple locations throughout south-central Iowa, serving both personal, business, and ag customers. What hasn’t changed is our promise:
